StarChefs Profile: Won Kim
Synopsis: Won Kim, inspired by his Korean heritage and the vibrant Chicago art and food scenes, has built a unique culinary career combining his artistic talents and culinary skills. After training at Le Cordon Bleu and pursuing interests as a graffiti artist and DJ, Kim launched Kimski in 2016, a fusion restaurant blending Polish and Korean cuisines, with the support of Mike and Ed Marszewski, owners of Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar. During the pandemic, he transformed Kimski into a Community Canteen, offering pay-what-you-can meals and prioritizing staff pay and community support.
